Sharing Daiyuzenji's Chicago facility is Shinjinkai, The Japanese Martial Arts Society.
Traditional martial arts training - with its emphasis on posture, breathing, use of the centeredness and mental clarity - is one of the mind/body disciplines that many Zen students find useful as a supplement to their Zen practice. Daiyuzenji and Shinjinkai are dedicated together to providing a place where any person may experience a deep, unified training in Zen, the martial arts, and fine arts.

Integral Bodywork™ , Chicago
Integral Bodywork™ is a unique series of therapeutic bodywork sessions that is particularly useful in preparing the bodymind for meditation. The series of sessions has many potential benefits including:
- freedom from tension and habit, increasing clarity of mind and ability to learn through the body
- increased awareness of body, breath, balance and function
- deepened awareness of the body’s center
- increased breath capacity and flexibility, increasing the body’s ability to assume the zazen posture

Outside the Chicago area
Zen and the Horse, Galena
Tom (Kogen) Nagel currently lives near Galena, Illinois located in the northwest corner of the state. He has trained in Zen meditation for 25 years. Tom is an instructor and practitioner of Zen Bodytherapy® and Zen Triggerpoint Anatomy® which combine deep tissue, alignment and energy work.
Tom conducts Zen and the Horse clinics throughout the Midwest. Zen and the Horse uses the principles and techniques of Zen meditation (posture, breath, awareness) in relationship to the horse. He has developed “Rider Realignment” sessions to balance and align a rider's body. See his website for more information.
